KL Tower International Jump 2013

Jumping off a 300-meter-high tower platform with only seconds to pull your rip cord might sound like the act of an insane person. But that’s exactly what 103 base jumpers from 20 countries did in Malaysia over the weekend.

The jumps were part of the annual KL Tower International Jump 2013, held in Kuala Lumpur from September 27 to 30. Adrenaline junkies leapt off the 421 meter tower for the second time this year, with a bonus jump-day on 1st October to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the tower. There were two night jumps, on 28 and 29 September, and what a sight these nights were: earth-bound figures.

casting haunting silhouettes with their parachutes as they floated towards the ground. But standards are extremely high and safety tops all other considerations. According to the event organizers, experienced BASE participants are jumpers who have completed at least 120 BASE jumps, have made at least 20 BASE jumps within the previous 12 months, and have been actively BASE jumping for at least 2 years.
