Celebrating Harley Davidsons 110th Anniversary In Malaysia
14th September 2013 marked the launch of Asia Harley Days in conjunction with Harley-Davidson’s 110th Anniversary global celebrations. The CEO of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), Zulkefli Hj Sharif on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, together with Bill Davidson, Vice-President of the Harley- Davidson Museum launched the event with an array of activities open to the public from 15th to 21 September, 2013.
Asia Harley Days is the Southeast Asian chapter of the global celebrations, with Malaysia being chosen as the starting point. The first of its kind in Southeast Asia, Asia Harley Days began in Kuala Lumpur at the KLCC Esplanade with a two-day event on 15 and 16 September 2013. The main highlight was a massive bike parade around Kuala Lumpur of about 800 riders and their machines. Other highlights included the Harley-Davidson dynometer station and Jumpstart experience, an exclusive motorcycle and merchandise exhibition, a Leica bike photography session, street performances and fashion shows.
The celebration continued with a five-day riding tour to Terengganu and Penang. A convoy of more than 200 Harley-Davidson owners and riders were flagged-off at the Hard Rock Cafe in front the Concorde Hotel just before dawn. Their mission: to experience first-hand Malaysia’s unique diversity as some of these riders have come from as far as the United States and the United Kingdom.
To join the celebrations, Harley-Davidson fans can log on to www.h-d.com/110 and share personal stories and riding experiences. Other sites where one can do this are Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #HD110.
