The Trill Not To Be Missed
One of the most popular tourist attractions on the island, the famous Langkawi Cable Car (rebranded as Panorama Langkawi Cable Car in 2011) takes visitors to an exciting and breathtaking tour of the island, hundreds of metres up in the air.
Visitors will get to experience not only the feel of being ferried across 2.2 km of Langkawi island, but also the opportunity to see a number of incredible and scenic views that are only visible from the cable car route.
Visitors begin their journey from the Langkawi Oriental Village, where the entrance and the Base Station to the Langkawi Cable Car is located.
Located about 25 minutes away from the Langkawi International Airport and about 45 minutes away from Kuah Town, the area is a themed “shopping centre housed in 30’s individually
designed buildings showcasing Malaysian and Oriental architecture.” Not only are there a wide variety of duty-free products sold here, but there are also a great number of dining outlets, a fine place to get ready before the cable car adventure.
A 1,700m ride from the Base Station with the cable car will take the visitors to the Middle Station, during which riders will be able to admire the natural geological beauty as well as the flora and fauna of Langkawi Island. Especially notable are 500 million-year-old unique rock formations of the Gunung Machinchang range, which is a geological marvel not to be missed.
Another 450m trip takes visitors to the Top Station, which houses 2 viewing platforms that provide a 360-degree panoramic view of not only the Langkawi Islands, but also Kedah and Southern Thailand. The viewing platforms provide visitors with visual access to the most breathtaking treasures of Langkawi.
