Malaysia's Largest Art Event Returns

There aren’t many art and cultural events that Malaysian fine art enthusiasts look forward to, but Art Expo 2012 is definitely one of the biggest and most successful events in town! Every year, thousands of art-savvy visitors lie await for Art Expo to find out more about local and international art. Entering its sixth year, Art Expo has sinced turned into the largest international art event in the country, featuring over 60 galleries and 23 countries in total.

The 2012 event was held at The MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre from 27th to 30th September. Over 2,000 pieces of artwork will be exhibited, with a good mix of works from established veteran artists as well as emerging ones, along with a number of high-profile international masterpieces that are sure to attract the attention of the public, such as 13 works by Surrealistic painter Miro and 3 works by famed artist Pablo Picasso.


A highlight of the event is Henry Butcher’s Art Auctioneer’s “Young Contempo Auction”, featuring 39 works of Malaysia’s young and emerging artists. Positioned to nurture the coming generation of artists, proceeds from the Young Contempo Auction will be used for programmes to help new artists to pursue their passion.
